The woman I owe this blog to: Carrie Bradshaw

I watched Sex & the City for the first time ever this year and I was obsessed. If we're being honest, as soon as I finished the second movie I started season one again. Still, I can't bring myself to watch And Just Like That because I love the 90s and 2000s vibes of the original series.
It just so happened that my first time watching the show aligned with my contemplation of starting this blog. Carrie Bradshaw made having a blog seem so fun that she sold me on starting my own, and how could I have a fashion blog without honoring the queen of fashion?
So today I want to talk about my muse: Carrie Bradshaw.

This one is going to be difficult to put into an outfit formula so I just might not. A key factor in what makes Carrie's style so good is that it's totally her. We all know she's had some flops but that is part of her style, she experiments with anything that she likes. We know she loves shopping for vintage dresses but has an equal amount of love for the designer shoes she buys and dresses she's gifted.
Carrie loves a structured dress as much as she loves a bunch of layers. No matter what she's wearing you know she will be accessorized to the gods. Her style isn't for everyone but again, it's not meant to be.
So, how do we dress as Carrie? Well, you don't. You dress like you but Carrie has some styling tips we can borrow to make our own style pop.
Confidence is sexy. Carrie walked 48 blocks in $400 shoes because she wasn't going to stop being her. She will choose being herself over any guy any day.
Know and be yourself. This goes hand in hand with number one but you can't be confident if you're not being true to yourself. If eclectic over the top fashion isn't you that's ok! Finding your personal style is all about being "personal."
Don't be afraid to try new things. I know it seems counterintuitive but you can't figure out what you love without trying different things. I'm sure we've all heard that you can't grow if you don't step out of your comfort zone. I think that rings true even in fashion.
These are of course my own thoughts on her style so let me know if there's anything you would add! I love Carrie's style because even if you follow her patterns of maximalism and accessorizing you can't copy her. Her style is all hers and that's what I want for myself. I think that's what we all want really.
As New York is my home and happy place I think we'll stay here for next week.
Until then,
still becoming
